Confession, by Kaiji Kawaguchi and Nobuyuki Fukumoto
When two friends get hit with a blizzard whilst climbing a mountain one of them is injured. With no hope of reaching shelter before he bleeds out, Ishikura makes what he expects will be a deathbed confession to his friend Asai. When they unexpectedly reach the shelter they so desperately need. Paranoia starts to creep in as the pair hole up in the isolated cabin. Asai worries his friend will regret sharing his darkest secret and it could be days before they’re rescued.
It’s been a long time since I’ve read much manga, and I was never into thriller side of things. I think the reason pacing felt off to me was largely a matter of cultural trends in comics. Sometimes the plot dragged and other times it moved too quickly, which didn’t hold the tension necessary for me to really love this story.
The concept was great, and the twists were a lot of fun. If this is your genre definitely give it a try.
